Oh'Monday

Mondays usually come in fast, don’t they?
The alarm goes off, the to-do list starts forming in your head, and before your feet even hit the floor you’re already thinking about work, errands, appointments, school schedules, and everything else the week is about to throw your way.
But this week, I want to suggest something a little different.
Let’s start the week by doing something for ourselves.
~Not something for work.
~Not something for the kids’ school.
~Not something on the never-ending household checklist.
I’m talking about that thing you’ve been putting off.
You know the one.
Maybe it’s a hobby you used to love. Maybe it’s a project that would make you smile when it’s finished. Maybe it’s something small that you keep saying you’ll “get around to one day.”
But somehow, that day keeps getting pushed further and further away.
Life gets busy. Energy runs low. And sometimes the things that bring us joy are the first things we set aside.
This week, let’s change that.
Let’s pick one thing we’ve been putting off—not because it’s a chore, but because it’s something that would make us feel happy, creative, peaceful, or proud when it’s done.
Start the week by being kind to yourself.
For me, that thing is wood burning.
I haven’t done it in a few years, but it’s something I used to really enjoy. There’s something calming about it—taking a simple piece of wood and slowly turning it into something meaningful.
The funny part is, my wood burner has been sitting in the attic this whole time.
Just waiting.
Covered in a little dust, probably tucked behind a few boxes, but still there.
So this week, I’m going to climb up there, wipe the dust off, plug it in, and start creating again. No pressure. No expectations. Just the joy of making something new with my own hands.

And honestly? I’m excited about it.
Not because it’s something I have to do.
But because it’s something I get to do.
That’s the kind of energy I want to start the week with.
So I want to ask you something:
What’s your thing?
Maybe it’s painting.
Maybe it’s reading the book that’s been sitting on your nightstand for months.
Maybe it’s gardening, baking, crafting, writing, organizing a space that would make you feel calmer.
It doesn’t have to be big.
It just has to be something that makes you smile when you think about it.
Give yourself permission this week to do something that fills your cup instead of draining it.
Life asks a lot from us. We give our time, our energy, and our attention to so many people and responsibilities every day.
There’s nothing wrong with saving a little piece of that energy for yourself.
So here’s your gentle challenge for the week:
Pick the thing you’ve been putting off.
Dust it off.
Open it up.
Start it.
You might be surprised how good it feels to finally say, “I did that.”
And who knows… it might be exactly the fresh start your week needed.
