The Tooth Fairy was here!

Yesterday was one of those moments that made me pause and soak it all in — the kind that reminds you just how quickly time passes when you’re raising little ones. My firstborn, my miracle baby, the one we prayed for through three and a half long years, lost his very first tooth!

How is Cody already six? It feels like I blinked, and suddenly my baby — the one who made me a mom — is growing up before my eyes. He’s full of energy, curiosity, and the biggest personality, and now he’s rocking the cutest little gap in his smile to prove it.
It all started just one day earlier. Cody announced in the car on the way home from school that his tooth hurt. I knew exactly what that meant and asked! "Really, is it loose?" He then proceeded taking his tongue and wiggling it!
So Sure enough, it was barely hanging on. I thought for sure we had at least a few days before the big moment — but nope! Leave it to Cody to move things along quickly. The very next day, that little tooth was ready to make its exit.
When it came out, there were no tears, just pure excitement. He held that tiny tooth in his hand like it was treasure. My heart melted right there — my baby boy, growing up, hitting another milestone, and I got to be right there for it.
Of course, his next question was,
“Do you think the Tooth Fairy knows?”
That’s when we decided to make our own special Tooth Fairy tradition. Instead of putting the tooth under the pillow like everyone else, we grabbed an old can, drilled little holes into it, and set a tea light underneath. When the candle glowed through the holes, it looked like stars lighting up the night. Cody placed his tooth right on top!
It was such a simple, sweet idea — and it made the night feel truly magical.
When bedtime came, Cody could barely wait to climb under the covers. Usually, it takes a little convincing to get him to settle down — you know, one more story, one more sip of water, one more “but I’m not tired!” But not this night. He was ready for the Tooth Fairy, eyes bright and heart full of wonder. He was asleep before everyone else!
Morning came faster than either of us expected. Normally, it takes a few gentle nudges (and maybe a little bribery) to get Cody out of bed, but not today. I leaned in and said,
“CODY! The Tooth Fairy came!”
and before I could even blink, he jumped out of bed and ran straight to the window where we’d left his glowing can.
Sure enough, the tooth was gone. In its place was a crisp $5 bill. Cody just stood there for a moment, smiling — that proud, gap-toothed smile that makes every part of motherhood worth it. Then he turned around and wrapped his arms around me.
No words — just that hug. The kind that says thank you for making this special. The kind that fills your heart to the brim.
For his very first tooth, the Tooth Fairy knew he deserved something a little extra for being so brave. Cody knows future visits might look different — maybe a small toy, a treat, or even a little adventure. But that’s the fun of it — the magic isn’t just in what the Tooth Fairy leaves, but in the excitement and the memories that come with it.
As I watched him proudly show off that $5 bill to his brother Alex, I felt that familiar tug in my heart — the one that reminds me how precious this time really is. From the baby we prayed for, to the little boy with the gap-toothed grin, I’ve been blessed to witness every “first.” His first word, first step, first day of school — and now his first lost tooth.

Being Cody’s mom will always be my greatest gift. Watching him grow, celebrating every milestone, and sharing these magical moments together — it’s what makes all the sleepless nights, long days, and busy mornings worth it a thousand times over.
✨ To all my readers — take it from me, cherish every single moment. The days can feel long, but the years truly fly by. One day you’re rocking them to sleep, and the next you’re celebrating their first lost tooth. Don’t rush the seasons, don’t wish away the chaos — soak in the giggles, the hugs, the “firsts,” and even the messy mornings. Because these moments? They’re the ones you’ll hold onto forever. 💛
