Thank you Veterans!

Today, we pause. We reflect. We thank.

Veterans Day is more than just a date on the calendar — it’s a moment to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who have served our country. Those who have worn the uniform, faced the challenges of military life, and given so much to protect the freedoms we often take for granted.

For me, this day is deeply personal. My husband retired from the United States Marine Corps in 2023, after years of service that tested his resilience, shaped his character, and forged lifelong bonds. Watching him transition from active duty into civilian life has been both inspiring and humbling. He welcomed his veteran status with open arms — and yes, that includes the beard, a symbol of the freedom he’s earned and the life he’s now living beyond service.

Being a veteran isn’t just about the battles fought overseas. It’s about the countless hours of training, the sleepless nights, the long days away from family, and the sacrifices made quietly, without recognition. It’s about learning discipline, resilience, and leadership in ways few civilians can truly understand. It’s about being part of a brotherhood and sisterhood that never truly leaves your side, a bond forged through shared experiences that are as challenging as they are transformative.

I often reflect on the small, everyday moments that make military service unique. The early mornings that begin before sunrise, the physical and mental challenges of drills, the teamwork required to overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable. The long stretches away from home and the quiet moments of missing birthdays, anniversaries, and simple family dinners. These sacrifices are often invisible to the outside world, yet they shape the core of what it means to serve.

Veterans carry these experiences with them long after their uniforms are put away. Transitioning back into civilian life can be both exciting and challenging. It’s a time of rediscovery — discovering who you are beyond the service, rebuilding routines, and finding new ways to contribute to your community and family. It’s a journey that takes resilience, patience, and courage — the same qualities that defined your service.

On this Veterans Day, we honor all of you — those currently serving, those who have retired, and those we’ve lost. Thank you for your dedication, your courage, and your unwavering commitment to our country. Thank you for the nights you spent away from your loved ones, for the moments you held your ground when it was hard, and for the sacrifices you made that many of us will never truly see. Your service shapes our nation, strengthens our communities, and inspires us all to live with gratitude, integrity, and purpose.

For families like mine, Veterans Day is also a reminder of the support and love that surrounds our service members. It’s a chance to say “thank you” in ways both big and small — from a warm meal waiting at home, to a simple hug, to sharing stories of pride and remembrance. Every word, every gesture matters. It reinforces that the sacrifices made in service are recognized, appreciated, and deeply valued.

To my husband, and to all veterans: we see you. We appreciate you. We thank you. We celebrate your courage, your resilience, and your dedication. You have given so much, and today, and every day, we honor that gift.

As we reflect on this day, let us also remember that gratitude extends beyond words. It’s in our actions, our recognition, and our efforts to support veterans in every stage of life. Whether it’s volunteering, sharing resources, listening to stories, or simply acknowledging the sacrifices made, every effort contributes to a culture of respect and appreciation.

From our family to yours, Happy Veterans Day. 💙
