Busy, Tired… and Still Worth It

I sat down today to write a blog because I realized something terrifying… I almost forgot I have a blog.

Not because I don’t love writing. Not because I ran out of ideas. But because life looked at me, laughed, and said, “Oh, you thought you had time?”

Somewhere between laundry that magically multiplies, dishes that never stay dirty long enough to prove I cleaned them, and a to-do list that regenerates overnight, writing a blog quietly slipped out of my brain. Not dramatically. No goodbye. It just wandered off while I was busy taking care of everyone else.

And that’s when it hit me.

If I can forget to do something I love… what else am I putting off?

We’re really good at telling ourselves, I’ll do it later.

Later when things slow down.

Later when life feels calmer.

Later when I’m less tired, more motivated, more “together.”

But later has a funny way of never actually arriving.

Making time for yourself doesn’t mean you suddenly wake up with extra hours in the day. It means you take time anyway—sometimes awkwardly, sometimes imperfectly, sometimes with a little guilt that you shouldn’t feel but do anyway.

It’s signing up for something new even though your inner voice says, “That sounds like a lot.”

It’s chasing a dream even when explaining it out loud feels a little embarrassing.

It’s trying something different and hoping it works… or at least makes a good story.

It’s booking that hair appointment—not because it’s practical, but because sometimes you need someone else to wash your hair and remind you that you’re still a human being and not just a walking checklist.

It’s sitting in your car for five extra minutes after running errands because the silence feels like a vacation.

It’s writing the blog—even if it’s late, even if it’s messy, even if it starts with admitting you forgot to write it in the first place.

Because making time for yourself isn’t selfish.

It’s necessary.

Dreams don’t wait patiently.

Joy doesn’t fit neatly into a planner.

And you deserve to be on your own priority list, right alongside everyone else you show up for every single day.

So if you’ve been putting off the thing you love, the thing you’ve always wanted to try, or the thing that makes you feel a little more like yourself—this is your reminder.

Now excuse me while I set a reminder… to remember that I have a blog. Again
